Sometimes, there are just no words to describe what we have been through, our struggles and emotions, or simply how we feel.
Art Psychotherapy is a form of psychotherapy, which leverages an additional language that is not dependent on spoken word — art media and the process of art-making — to allow for a creative way to think through and process challenging experiences and emotional difficulties.
I work with a psychodynamic and attachment-focused approach, looking not just at symptoms and results, but also at the way we think, the way we feel, the way we relate, and particularly the relationship between our inner and outer worlds.
I also work with a trauma-informed, body-oriented approach, helping people who chronically feel unsafe to become familiar with, and befriend the sensations in their bodies, in order to gradually reconnect with themselves. “Once you start approaching your body with curiosity rather than with fear, everything shifts.” (B. van der Kolk)
